The Society of Authors is a trade union for
professional writers with over 7,000 members. The staff provide individual
advice on all of the business aspects of writing, including the vetting of
contracts. The Society also represents the writing profession by campaigning for
improved terms and changes in legislation, such as copyright and libel laws.

Romantic fiction is the best-selling,
widest-read type of fiction, universally enjoyed because everyone knows
something about love.
If you write or work with books and want to
join us, we welcome published and unpublished writers, agents and editors, and
other people involved in publishing or connected to books.

historical
novel society
The Historical Novel Society was founded in
1997 and aims to promote all aspects of historical fiction. Membership is
open to all: they welcome anyone who is enthusiastic or curious about the
genre. They offer support and opportunities for new writers, provide
information for students, booksellers and librarians, and are a
community for authors, agents and publishers.

keep up to date with all the latest news about their books and authors.

Conservative Association offices, an indoor market, an air raid shelter, Turkish baths, and a public
lavatory. These are just some of the uses to
which Bishop Auckland Town Hall was put before its re-opening as a library
and community arts centre in September 1993.

is a magazine by and for women who write.
Enjoy its mix of debate and analysis, advice and inspiration; news, reviews, interviews; competitions, events, courses,
grants, all served up with a challenging selection of new poetry and prose.
